Thanks are necessary to the people who contributed to the module and its development. First, thanks to Elder Uncle Lewis Yarlupurka O’Brien for conceptualising the name for the module and Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi for giving their cultural consent to UniSA to use Yara Nguturla Tampirrinthi to name this higher degree research supervision module. Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi is the leading group dedicated to Kaurna language revitalisation and the maintenance process. Second, many thanks to the Aboriginal research leaders in universities throughout Australia and UniSA academics who willingly, and in detail, discussed cultural competency and the need for cultural safety in relation to supervising Aboriginal HDR candidates. Thirdly, acknowledgement is also due to Professor Irene Watson (UniSA’s inaugural Indigenous pro-Vice Chancellor) and Professor Pat Buckley for their sponsorship of this module and advice during its development. The module is based on 15 interviews in total with eight experienced Aboriginal supervisors and one non-Aboriginal research supervisor, two Aboriginal HDR graduates and four Aboriginal Elders. Thank you for your generosity of time, knowledge and wisdom in discussing this important topic. All the strategies discussed in the module were emphasised in the interviews.
