Learning Goals/Outcomes
Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
- Appreciate the importance of utilising dimensional analysis for the engineering of complex water systems
- Define the three fundamental dimensions (mass, length, time) and determine if there is dimensional homogeneity
- Model large hydraulic systems mathematically using the Rayleigh method (and the Reynolds number of the components)
- Select an appropriate pump based upon the properties of a hydraulic pipe system and the system curves of the pump.Appropriately describe fluid flow properties in various types of pipes.
