Topic outline

  • Accessing and using iThenticate is very straightforward.

Once you have obtained your account details, go to the iThenticate login page and login. (If you tick the 'Remember me' box, next time you login from the same computer, the system should remember who you are and your password.)

Go to the 'Upload a file' link on the right-hand side of the page, fill in the details as requested, browse for the file you want to upload and press '
'Submit' which can be found at the foot of the page. You can upload more than one file in one upload should you need to.

If you want to upload text from a file rather than the file itself, use the 'Cut & Paste' link instead of 'upload a file'.

Results and how long they take to come back

The length of time iThenticate takes to return your results will depend on the document length but typically a report takes from one to a few minutes to come back.

While an analysis is in progress, the word "pending" appears in the report column next to the title of your manuscript. When your results are ready, a percentage, or "Similarity Index" can be seen in the report column next to the title of the manuscript.
