How to keep records for good WIL reflections
When writing your reflections, making notes daily is the best way to keep track of what you have done each day. Focus on the following:
- Communication in the workplace
- Who did you speak to?
- What communication medium was used eg face to face, email, Skype
- What was the topic of the conversation?
- How did you listen eg active, critical etc?
- How important are non-verbal signs in your listening when communicating with this person?
- How did you feel during the day whilst completing a task, faced with a problem, as a result of communication?
- Note what was right, good, wrong, complex, puzzling, stressful
- Did you feel your personal ethics were challenged?
- Did you obtain clarification / ask questions? Were the questions answered in full? How did you feel about the response?
- Describe what happened throughout the day
- How did you respond
- How you felt about it
- What would you do differently next time?
- Think about theories you have been learning in your studies.
- Where do theories from different courses apply to the workplace
- Provide evidence through examples, references to events and readings. If you provide references, please ensure they are correctly formatted using UniSA Harvard Referencing format.
- In what areas do you feel you have improved?
- skill development
- knowledge building
- professional development
