Engineers Australia recommend that students complete their PPP hours (450 hours) by the end of the first study period of their final year at uni. That is, half-way through 4th year.
However, if you are undertaking an in-industry internship as part of your final year courses (ENGG 4012, ENGG 4013, ENGG 4014 or ENGG 4015) their PPP hours will be accrued upon successful completion of the course(s).
It is your responsibility to check your hours and notify the STEM Industry Experience team if updates are required.
To find out how many hours you have accumulated towards your PPP, you can log in to InPlace (using your normal student log in credentials), click on the ‘Confirmed’ tab at the top, second from the left, and view all your confirmed ‘Placements’. For the placement hours to count towards the PPP, the status of the ‘Placement’ must be ‘Completed’, however you can also see any placements that are in progress by viewing ‘Current’ placements, and any scheduled (‘Upcoming’) placements.
Completing
the Professional Practice Program
To be eligible to graduate from a UniSA Engineering Honours Program, all students must:
- Undertake 450 hours of professional practice activities (or receive an exemption from participating); AND
- Receive an NGP for the relevant zero-unit Industrial Experience course (ENGG 4017); AND
- Complete all units in line with their study plans.
Zero-unit Industrial Experience course
When you have completed all 450 hours of professional practice (or received an exemption) you will be invited to enrol in the next available offering of the relevant Industrial Experience course (ENGG 4017).
You must complete all of your PPP hours (450 hours) by half-way through your final year of studies, and have them verified and finalised, to allow enough time to enrol in the relevant Industrial Experience course in your final study period. This will ensure you stay on track to graduate.
All information and assessment requirements for the zero unit courses can be found on the relevant course Learnonline sites once you are enrolled in the course.
