Dr Cassandra Loeser, Lecturer Research Education, identifies key services and workshops for commencing higher degree by research students who are developing and writing their Research Proposal. The Research Proposal is due within the first six (6) months of candidature for full-time PhD students and in the first three (3) months for Masters by Research candidates.
Research Proposal Writing Series
The Research Proposal Writing Series is specially designed to support research students who are writing their proposals in the early stages of their candidature. The Research Proposal Writing series is delivered by Dr Wendy Bastalich. Registration should be made separately for each of the individual workshops in the Series and is made through the EDGEx system.
There are two research proposal writing series, the first being the Research Proposal Writing Series for STEM and Health Sciences students. This link also takes you to online resources developed for STEM and Health Sciences students.
The second series is the Research Proposal Writing series for Business, Social Sciences, Humanities and Creative students. Online resources for this series are available HERE.
Please note that for both series the online resources are designed to complement the workshops rather than to replace them, although you will find them very helpful if circumstances make it impossible to attend workshops in person.
Journal Article Writing Series
For higher degree by research students planning to publish, there are two Journal Article Writing Series that guide students through the main components of writing and publishing a journal article. The Journal Article Writing Series are delivered by Dr Cassandra Loeser in collaboration with guest presenters from different Academic Units. Please note it is anticipated that students who attend the Journal Article Writing Series will have already submitted their research proposal. Registration is available on EDGEx.
As with the Commencing Series, there is one Journal Article Writing Series for STEM and Health Sciences students. Online resources for the STEM and Health Sciences Series are also available HERE.
And there is a separate Journal Article Writing Series for Business, Social Sciences, Humanities and Creative Students. Online resources for the BSSHC Series are available HERE.
