Topic outline

  • New students and continuing students:

Congratulations on receiving your offer for postgraduate studies in Medical Sonography at the University of South Australia (UniSA). The program team and I look forward to working with you during your time at UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance and to see you successfully complete your studies.

We understand that as new students there is a lot of information and many of you are keen to get started in your study and may have already commenced your traineeship.  This website is your "go-to" place to find information about your studies. Please use the tabs below to find further relevant information.

In the meantime, the University will have posted (or soon will) a letter with your new student details and how to enrol in courses and classes via the online student portal myUniSA.

On behalf of the Medical Sonography program team, we wish you all the best for your study.

    Future students and supervisors:

We have set up this page as a useful resource for future students and current supervisors/ future supervisors who are looking for resources on clinical supervision and considering further study in Masters or considering recommending UniSA postgraduate Medical Sonography programs to their trainees. Your first important overview of our Programs is described in the FAQs document immediately below.

    International students:

In order to accepted for admission, international students are required to provide evidence of a suitable qualified supervisor. Definition of this is either a sonographer already registered with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR), a sonographer who has completed an Australian sonography qualification that is accredited by ASAR, a doctor who is qualified to practice as a radiologist (for general or vascular stream)/ cardiologist (for cardiac stream) in Australia.

In order to be eligible for accreditation with ASAR you must complete at least 60% of your scanning hours within Australia. If the above condition is not met, and you wish to register with ASAR you must do so via the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).
