A Hackathon is a 2-3 day creative, intensive competition where a diverse group of people solve problems using technology as an enabler. They’ve been used for many years and were made famous by the likes of Google, Facebook and Atlassian.

These companies have used hackathons for recruitment, onboarding, community activation, sourcing and testing ideas to solve business problems, partnership and employee engagement. Features such as the ‘like’ button and ‘search’ bar on Facebook were created through hackathons.

Hours approved for use towards the required PPP hours will change dependant upon the content of the specific Hackathon.
