Counting Blood Cells

The following questions relate to blood cell numbers in canines, humans and reptiles.

Dogs have a red blood cell (RBC) count approximately 1.4 times greater than that of humans. The range for humans is as follows:

(4.2 to 5.8) x 10/mm3

Calculate the RBC count range for dogs.

---

Ball Pythons have a RBC count approximately 0.16 times that of humans.

Calculate the RBC count range for Ball Pythons.

---

In humans, the White Blood Cell (WBC) count is approximately:

(4.3 to 10.8) x 10/mm3

Using the average of each range (WBC, and RBC above), calculate the ratio of RBC to WBC in the human body
