Ideally, you should have completed the entire 450 hours of professional practice by the end of the first semester in your final year at university. That is, half way through your fourth year (assuming a full time study load).
Alternatively, where you may be completing an in-industry internship as part of your final year courses (ENGG 4012, ENGG 4013, ENGG 4014 or ENGG 4015) the time you complete may be different to the above. After you have successfully completed these internship courses there will be enough time for you to enrol in the relevant zero unit course (ENGG 4017) and complete the assessment requirements in time to graduate.

You cannot graduate until you have received an NGP for ENGG 4017 and satisfied all of your program requirements.

When you start your industry placement it is important that you receive an induction and local orientation to the workplace within the first couple of weeks.
A local orientation to the workplace is helpful to ensure that you know where things are located, such as fire exits and first aid rooms and how to use machinery safely. It helps you to settle in and know who to go to with any problems.
An induction to the company is also important to help you to understand the company, the structure of the organisation and how the work you are assisting with fits into the strategic plans.
If you do not receive a local orientation or induction to the workplace please raise it with your workplace supervisor within the first week.

Yes. As you are required to complete 450 professional practice hours, with a minimum of 225 hours spent in industry, it is important that these hours are confirmed and verified. You can use the time sheet template provided for you or you can use something
else that you prefer. It is up to you.
Whichever template your use, it will need to be signed by the workplace supervisor to confirm that you have been in the workplace for the hours you have claimed. Once you have completed your placement you will upload it to InPlace for the Industry Experience team to check. This will ensure that the hours you have completed in the PPP are recorded accurately.
