The MATLAB Desktop Layout (1.42)

Transcript

It is important to understand the MATLAB Desktop layout. This is the default Desktop layout of MATLAB. As you see, there are 4 windows. The window on the left is simply the Current Folder window. It will show you list of files which are currently saved in the current folder. At the moment it is empty - there is nothing saved at the moment.

The window in the middle which has double arrow prompt, it is called the Command window. You can type in any command in this window and it will be executed for you. You can also view previously executed commands and output in this window.

Another important window is the Workspace, which is at the top right of the screen. It will show you the current variables and their values, dimensions, etc. You will see how it works a bit later.

Finally at the bottom right, there is the Command History window. It will show you the date, the time and the list of commands you typed in on a particular day. So you can always retrieve your previously used commands using this history.
