The process of determining which version of Windows you are running differs for between Windows XP and Windows 7 or Vista:

Click Start, right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then refer to the System field:
- If the System field displays 'x64 Edition', your device is running the 64-bit version of Windows XP
- If the System field does not display 'x64 Edition' then your device is running the 32-bit version of Windows XP
Windows 7 & Windows Vista:
Click the Start button, right-click Computer, click Properties, and then refer to the System Type field:
- If the System Type field displays '64-bit Operating System', your device is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows Vista
