Subject outlines can be found in criteria 1.10 and course structure in criteria 2.3.
Core knowledge in all of our courses, is provided in the academic subjects and the clinical competencies are developed while the students are accruing 2200 hours of clinical experience. This clinical experience is required to be demonstrated in logbook format and students will be required to show competencies in a broad range of scanning areas which include Abdominal, Obstetrics, Gynaecological, Musculoskeletal, Superficial Parts, and Vascular. There is no minimum number of scans a student must complete and students are assessed on the breadth and depth of scanning across all areas of ultrasound. Logbook details can be found below for reference.
Students must demonstrate clinical competencies in the capstone subject, RADY 5026 Clinical Sonography Portfolio, through local on-site tutor assessments, and as part of their final Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). Students must also submit a document title Final Clinical Audit in which their supervisor must sign off on the ASAR required competencies. The document is attached below.
Students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Breast Imaging program, must complete a total of 75 supervised breast scans while enrolled in RADY 5002, Breast Sonography. Students will be required to pass practical assessments and will be required to keep a log book to record the number and quality of breast ultrasound examinations which have been performed. This should be signed by their supervising sonographer/radiologist and require the following number of satisfactory examinations:
10 x full breast scans (both sides)
50 x targeted scans
5 x prosthesis scans
10 x interventional studies
