We are especially fortunate at UniSA to be working in an environment which fosters a strong culture of critical inquiry amongst staff. The support and resources provided from various units across the University, such as the Teaching Innovation Unit, hold us in good stead - not only to develop our own critical inquiry skills for our own teaching practices, but to pass on these skills and resources to our students.
From the start of their studies with us, students are challenged to question, and to discover and present the best evidence in the presentation of their work - whether that be from answering weekly tutorial questions, debating (engaging in scholarly discussions....) with their academic facilitators or student colleagues about a particular topic, or more formal presentation of work in their assignments.
All of our staff are involved in research activities in a range of capacities. Those staff who are considered to be early career researchers, following recent completion of their PhD studies, are excelling at leading their own research projects. Staff who are newer to Academia have all found themselves on supervisory panels across a range of research disciplines. We are providing ultrasound expertise to projects run by Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Physiology, Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, Nursing, and of course Medical Radiations.
All students who continue on to further studies in our Masters Course are required to complete at least one research or evidence-based subject
Examples of subject content which is related to critical inquiry are presented as evidence for Criterion 7.4.
