The University of South Australia has a comprehensive policy framework which shapes assessment practices.
The Assessment Policy and Procedures Manual (APPM) is an extensive guide to University policy, good practice and guides on assessment in undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.
The first part of the manual includes a section called Assessment Principles and Requirements (Principles of Student Assessment) which provides a framework for all assessment practices within the University.
The University's assessment policies and procedures can be found here.
The University's Teaching Innovation Unit provide continual support for all academics in their assessment development, and also maintain up to date resources via their Assessment Development site.
Moderation is a key focus of academic work, and the University leads by example in this area by providing workload allocation for moderation processes. This is of particular importance in instances when multiple markers are evaluating a single assessment piece. The UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance moderation guide can be found below. This ensure consistency in grading across all subjects in the program and is used by all staff (permanent or casual) when grading assessments.
The University of South Australia has designed a systematic and coherent framework to foster academic integrity and manage academic dishonesty. Details of the UniSA Academic Integrity Policy as well as procedures to manage academic misconduct can be reviewed in the following link.
As demonstrated on the subject learnonline sites, all students are provided with relevant marking rubrics alongside their assessment tasks. This allows for early demonstration of assessment requirements, as well as transparency in the marking process for each assessment.
Clinical assessments have been discussed in Criteria 6.4 and 6.5. Marking rubrics as well as marking guides for assessments in each subject can be found in Criteria 6.4 and 6.5.
