Staff to student ratios for equipment and facilities have been provided earlier as evidence for Criterion 3.4.
Staff-student ratios for teaching academic content are established each year according to workload teaching allowance models set by the Allied Health and Human Performance Unit.
Academic staff at UniSA are employed as either a 'balanced' or a 'teaching' academic. Balanced academics have their workload divided across teaching (40%), research (40%), and administration duties (20%). Teaching academics have their workload divided across teaching (80%) and administration /research /scholarship (20%).
Based on this model, each staff member is given an allocated number of teaching hours as per their work fraction.
Where the required teaching load for each subject is greater than the allocated workload for the subject coordinators, staff are able to employ sessional casual staff to assist with teaching and marking. All casual staff are current accredited and practicing sonographers, and are required to provide updated resumes to ensure recency of skills and professional knowledge.
In their training workplace, students are supervised as per the local workplace policies.
Student satisfaction data, employer satisfaction data and course outcome data have all been provided as evidence for Criteria 1.1, 1,2, 1.4 and 1.7, as well as with the Self Study Report of Appendix 2.
