Effective communication between you, the student and the university staff helps to ensure that the students are well supported and that any potential issues on placement are addressed and managed quickly.
Prior to each placement block:
You can expect an email from the ELA Course Coordinator at UniSA which will confirm the students who will be attending on placement. The ELA Course Coordinator is your point of contact for any feedback or issues you may have about student performance.
During placement:
Please document interactions and feedback about student progress. You can record aspects such as orientation, review of learning objectives, the CATs your students have completed, any sick days or make up shifts organised and their level of accomplishment for their final Standards Assessment. The following form can be used to summarise student progress: ELA Summary sheet template
At the end of each week:
Please email the completed summary to the ELA Course Coordinator to inform them about student progress.
NOTE: some venues may have one student only - if you prefer not to complete the summary form, an email to update on student progress is acceptable.
Concerns or issues with a student's performance:
In the first instance please contact the ELA Course Coordinator. Should any issues be unable to be resolved by the ELA Clinical Coordinator, they will liaise with the Clinical Program Coordinator to work on a resolution.
