A new browser extension, LibKey Nomad, enables students and staff to access full text article content of the Library’s subscribed journals simply by searching the open web. By matching article metadata to library holdings, LibKey Nomad gives users a broader capacity to discover quality scholarly content branded with the UniSA Library name and logo, effectively opening up this content to Google and other search engines, and redirecting the user to the article provided by the publisher usually only accessible via a Paywall.
Benefits include:
- Ability to access relevant full text articles conveniently and instantly via the open web
- Simple browser extension that can be set up in seconds without training
- Complements behavior of students and researchers already using Google and Google Scholar as a discovery service,
- Reduced risk of copyright infringement through use of non-compliant content held on the open web
- Informs users that the content is available from UniSA Library as a trusted and recognised source
- Increased awareness of Library academic journal content
- Completely anonymous – no user data is shared with or by LibKey
