Visualisations from Mannum

Here are some 360 panoramas taken at various sites during the field trip to Mannum. It is just like being in the field, minus the rain and cold :) The panoramas may help to remind you of the field relationships, and it's also a chance for those who didn't see the Palmer fault stop to have a look at a real-life fault zone.

The iOS app I used is called Panorama 360 (wonder how long it took them to come up with that one!). Anyone with a smartphone or iPad should check it out - it is a great visualisation tool. It comes in both iOS (Apple) and Android versions - http://occipital.com/360/app.

Click the links below for a full page view of the panoramas - you can zoom in and out and rotate as you please. Note: use Chrome web browser for best results. If you have an iPhone or iPad you can also view them interactively using gyroscope capabilities, allowing you to look upwards and downwards as well.

Just for interest, you can also check out some other panoramas I've taken - they are a great way to capture geology. See all my panoramas here, including some of Hallett Cove, Carrickalinga, Second Valley and Weekeroo, where we complete a variety of field mapping exercises for both Engineering & Environmental Geology and Geolab:

PALMER FAULT

Nice fault breccia exposed in a cliff section at the base of Palmer Hill. The fault plane is clearly visble as a planar structure dipping into the hillside. Milled and fractured country rock has been weathered to predominantly clay material that forms an unstable slope face.
