Activity 1
Read Moon's 'The Park (4)'
Part A: Identify where and how the writer has reflected on action.
The act of reflecting on action requires us to take time out to explore why we acted as we did and by doing this we arrive at questions and ideas about our activities and practice that we can draw upon in the future.
Part B: Identify how the writer has engaged in critical reflection, specifically:
- recognised assumptions that she had made about people or situations
- questioned and challenged familiar situations
- listened to the views of others to test out whether they shared her perception of the event
- taken a wider view so she saw events from a long-term perspective and identified patterns and assumptions held (Adapted from Moon 2004).
Next: Follow a similar process to revisit one of your own reflections in Activity 2
