Activity 5
Write about a situation where you experienced an ethical dilemma and, if possible, where you had to make a decision based on your own ethics and values. Further information on ethics and common dilemmas can be found at the St James Ethics Centre's website. If you are unable to think of a dilemma you have faced, you can choose a dilemma from this site. Look for their Hypothetical case studies.
Your account should:
- include evidence of reflection in action and on action.
- explain what the experience of reflection means for you (reflecting upon the reflective experience).
- apply other people's perspectives to challenge your own understanding or inform your decision and action plan e.g the views of other 'stakeholders' in the situation.
- reflect on the ethical and moral dilemmas arising from your context or situation that may be at odds with your ethics and values e.g. commercial, economic and social pressures may clash with best practice principles in a work context.
You may find it helpful to use the describe, explain and justify format.
Congratulations! You have now completed this module.
