Learning strategy

The weekly structure and individual activities will be: (Pre-class Activities)

  1. Review the specified chapter of the textbook because it  gives you the big picture of the weekly topic and worked examples
  2. Revise the lecture topics, make notes and explain the critical points
  3. Do the tutorial exercises because this will assure you that you understand the content.
  4. Work on the assessment tasks
  5. Note down any questions or doubts you have to discuss during the tutorial sessions and make a post in the content forum.

Aim of the tutorial sessions: (In-class Activities)

  1. For you to work on assessment and tutorial activities
  2. For you to bring up issues you want to clarify.
  3. To discuss with peers on group project tasks.
  4. To help reflect on your assignment and explain any misunderstandings you may have.
  5. To work productively as a class to solve tutorial problems  

What you need to do? - (Post-class activities)

  1. Revise questions and concepts discussed during the class 
  2. Complete recommended weekly assessment tasks and activities (check study schedule/timebudget)

Lecture materials and preparation

  • The lecture materials provided under each week contain the presentation slides. You can find the printable versions under the "Study material" Tab.
  • You can access the recorded lectures from course essentials block.
  • You are advised to follow the content/topics contained in the lecture slides. You will find it very useful for your learning if you follow the schedule and complete suggested activities each week.

Preparation for Tutorials classes

  • Watch lecture recordings and try to understand the concepts, if any problems, discuss in the tutorial classroom session.
  • Before the scheduled tutorial class session, you are expected to attempt the exercises/questions. If you have any issues/problems with solving particular exercises then you should note them and raise the issues during the tutorial class.
  • With adequate preparation before each tutorial class you will be in a position to ask the right questions during class to enhance your learning. Tutorial class are meant to be interactive. That is, you are expected to actively take part in the discussions, group tasks and problem solving. 
  • The questions and exercises are based on the materials covered in the lectures. 
  • It is important that you read the relevant sections of the textbook and look at the examples there to enhance your understanding of the concepts.
  • Use your tutor's consultation time to clarify any obscure concept and address any problem.

Project based learning

This course has a group project component (assessed). You will need to work in groups.
