  • Hello and welcome to the Teaching Academic Group Site.

We formally established TAG in 2022 to meet the professional learning needs of the growing numbers of teaching academics in Education Futures Unit.

Our recent investigation of staff professional development needs revealed continuing and sessional staff would value greater opportunities for networking, mentoring, resources and professional learning in Higher Education pedagogies (Hattam & Weiler 2019; Hattam & Weiler 2021).

We have given thought to how we can build on the activities that already exist and to expand on these with a focus on supporting teaching staff through the different stages of their employment at UniSA.

For new staff, you have the opportunity to meet regularly at the 'Coffee Series' sessions aimed to support your transition into your teaching role.

Staff who have settled into their roles and may be ready to explore different higher education teaching approaches, are invited to attend enabling, culturally responsive and trauma informed pedagogy workshops, participate in a Teaching Square, attend the HE Pedagogy Reading Group or participate in the Quality On-line Project.

If you have been teaching for a while at university and are interested to invest more time into building your scholarship of teaching outputs, apply for a teaching award, fellowship or build the rigor of your scholarship, you can lodge an expression of interest to enrol into the 'Researching While Teaching' Series Part 1 where you will conduct a year-long action research project with colleagues across the university. On completion of Part 1, you can enrol into Part 2 that supports the process of turning your action research project into a peer-reviewed journal article.

Please spend some time looking around the site and we welcome your suggestions about the kind of professional learning support you need in your role.

We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events.
