Topic outline

  • Course communication:

We encourage students to contact their tutor if they have questions. Our advice is to ask questions during the weekly tutorials/online zooms. For any questions in between classes, we encourage students to post a question to the Q&A forum on the course learnonline site so that all other students benefit from the conversation.

For more personal matters, we encourage students to send an email to their tutor and/or Course Coordinator. We generally reply within 48 hours (not including weekends or public holidays).

    Study Support:

If students could you use a little help with their study or assignments they can access Studiosity via the tiles in the square, at the top of each Learnonline course site.  They can also seek help from a learning advisor at the Student Engagement Unit (SEU).

    Extension Requests:

During students' time at UniSA, we are here to support their study success. We recognise that sometimes things happen that are out of our control which may impact on study. This is where extensions may be helpful to assist students to manage extenuating or unexpected circumstances.

However before applying for an extension students need to check the following considerations so that they are being consistent with the extension policy.

    - Are you making this extension request 2 working days prior to the due date and time?
    - Will the extension request place more pressure on the due dates for your other courses?
    - Do you have supporting documentation ready? Examples may include the following;

        • Medical certificates
        • Notice of death
        • Court summons
        • Access plan
If students do not meet the criteria above, this means they will be applying for an extension on  compassionate grounds and you should consider the following:
    - Do they have a genuine reason for applying for an extension that would not be seen to be unfair to another student?

You  may ask to see any progress the student has made on the assessment to date. This allows the you to make a decision on the duration of any extension awarded.

Failure to meet the criteria above may result in the extension request being denied.

Note that this extension policy is consistently applied across all Education courses and in line with the provisions outlined in the UniSA Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual. A copy of this PDF can be found here

All extension requests must be lodged via Learnonline.
