In 2016, a team of UniSA staff members won a Learning and Teaching Development Grant grant to develop digitally-presented modules focused on clinical communication.
The focus of the project is on supporting students before they embark on their first clinical placement.
The project team developed a range of resources to be used to help teach the concepts of clinical communication to health students.
These resources include:
video 'vignettes' (short scenarios) which focus on clinical communication in particular health situations, showing examples of effective and non-effective approaches
class lesson modules which are aligned to the Miller model of learning development, and can be used to support the teaching of clinical communication in your courses (each module includes lesson plans and activity sheets)
The video resources are divided into two sets:
The first set of videos show interactions between various health professionals and their patients/clients - each scenario is applicable across multiple health disciplines. The videos are arranged under four themes, with three scenarios for each theme:
The second set of resources illustrates communication between health care professionals and within health care teams.
