Cardiac handover

A bedside cardiac handover involving an allied health team, including a Cardiac Surgeon, a Cardiac Sonographer, a Physiotherapist, a Paediatric Nurse and a Pharmacist, in consultation with the patient, a female child, and her mother.

Themes: Opening initial contact, courteous initial approaches (including using correct titles), respecting professional boundaries, using correct patient names and details, acknowledging opinions and needs of other health care specialisations, constructively negotiating requests and requirements, summarising points in a professional interaction, using appropriate terminology and language, demonstrating high level professional interaction in front of patients, closing down professional interactions appropriately.
