Dipslides for Urine Culture

Dipslides for urine culture consist of a plastic paddle coated on one side with MacConkey agar (pink) and on the other with CLED agar (green) (see media section). They are dipped into a urine specimen, to cover the entire agar surface, removed and incubated in their containers overnight in aerobic conditions at 37oC. Amount of growth, corresponding to particular concentrations of bacteria in the urine specimen, is assessed by comparison to standard charts.
