Dipslides for Urine Culture

Dipslides for urine culture consist of a plastic paddle coated on one side with MacConkey agar (pink) and on the other with CLED agar (green) (see media section). They are dipped into a urine specimen, to cover the entire agar surface, removed and incubated in their containers overnight in aerobic conditions at 37^oC. Amount of growth, corresponding to particular concentrations of bacteria in the urine specimen, is assessed by comparison to standard charts.
