- Use the magnetic stirrer - It may take hours!
- Store at 4oC
OXIDASE STRIPS
N,N,N’,N’, tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine, made up as a 1% w/v aqueous solution, is used to soak filter paper strips (approximately 1x3 cm) which are then dried and stored in a dark container. The reagent is subject to auto-oxidation and colour change if exposed to light.

Creatine 0.3gms
Distilled water to 100mls Weight/Volume
- Dissolve the KOH in most of the water
- Dissolve the Creatine in the remaining water
- Add the two solutions together volumetrically
- Store at 4oC
ALPHA – NAPHTHOL (VP 2)
Alpha - naphthol 6gms
95% Alcohol to 100mls W/V
- Dissolve alpha - naphthol in alcohol
