Once you have applied a style to your document, you can modify or change it to suit you. When you change the style, ALL parts of your document in that style will be up-dated automatically, making your document consistent. See the example of how Heading 2 changes.

1  The selected text has the style ‘Heading 2’, as seen on the vertical styles menu.

2  A right-click on ‘Heading 2’ opens the drop-down button with the ‘modify’ option which gives ‘Modify Style’ options.

3 The style has changed: Arial to Aharoni font, size from 13 to 12, unbold and non-italic.

4 This style can be changed again or simply undo to return to the original setting.

Activity

Use your 1-page test document and become familiar with modifying styles by experimenting with them.

Step 1. Open the vertical styles menu.
Step 2. Click on one example of text with a style you want to change.
Step 3. Right-click on a Style name in the vertical styles menu and select ‘modify’. You will now have the ‘Modify Style’ options available.
Step 4. Change all aspects of the style. For example, go to the 'Format' drop-down button at the bottom left and check out the choices. For example, make changes to ‘Paragraph’ and ‘Numbering’.
Step 5. If you do not like what it looks like, change it again or undo to go back to the original setting.
