Why use a thesis template?
A Word template determines the basic structure of a document. Once attached to the document, the template automatically:
- defines fonts, font styles and font sizes
- determines page layout and special formatting
A template saves time, reduces errors in layout formats and maintains consistency of style throughout a large document such as a thesis.
- It makes the creation of such customised documents easier and more straightforward.
- As a result, you can focus more closely on the content of your thesis and leave the template to deal with the formatting.
A thesis template enables you to switch to a document outline to check the heading structure of a chapter at any time. Such a check will immediately reveal:
- redundant headings
- headings set to the wrong level
- incorrectly formatted headings
- poorly worded headings

With a thesis template, compiling the final copy is simplified.
- As the document grows, each chapter is formatted automatically according to the same template.
- Lists of contents, figures and tables are created automatically. You don't have to go through the laborious process of creating them manually.
