o Multidisciplinary trauma meeting is held every Wednesday morning at 09:00 and 3rd and 4th
year students are able to attend if accompanied by a Team Leader or Clinical Supervisor.

o Please remember to sign the attendance book in Level 3 Outpatients X-ray each day.

o When collecting patients from the barouche bay, make sure you identify the
patient and take note of the level of oxygen when disconnecting it from the wall and
reconnecting it when returning the patient to the barouche bay.

o Remember to hand the student feedback forms to radiographers you do some
examinations with so they have the chance to let me know things they see you can improve
on or things you are very good at!

o It is best if new staff or those undergoing training (induction staff) do not to work with
students, as they themselves, are still learning the equipment and procedures.

o There are protocol books on each floor available to refer to if you wish to check which views
are routine at this site.

o You are also encouraged to look up a patient’s past imaging on RIS/ PACS to assist you
with your decision making.

o If you’re allocated to work with a radiographer for the day (for example if you are rostered to Chest
Clinic), make sure you follow them all day unless they go to mobiles and you are rostered to
General.

o If you are part of an interesting case that you would like to discuss in the Wednesday
meeting, make a note of the UR or accession number or add to the student folder (ESMI).

o Wednesday meetings at 15:30 in a Level 5 meeting room (location TBA weekly on student
whiteboard), optional not compulsory, but usually involve 20 minutes of rosters, admin,
signing documents and 40 minutes of education.

o Emma Liu is the SAMI Liaison  (Clinical Placement Coordinator) who is the contact between students and the University and the Clinical Supervisors, she visits weekly/fortnightly for educational and administrative support.

o All of the staff and management at the RAH want you to have a successful and rewarding
experience here; however if any staff or patients speak to you or approach you in a way that
makes you feel uncomfortable or uneasy please come and talk to me (Deb or Stephanie) or one of the Team Leaders about it.  We do not tolerate bullying or harassment within this Department.
