It is important for students to ensure when imaging patients that you have...
1.the correct patient,
2.the correct procedure,
3.the correct side

•Don’t ask “… is your name John Smith?”

     Ask”… what is your full name and date-of-birth?”

                                                                                                                                                                The student must ensure that the imaging request form is initialed by a qualified radiographer to indicate that patient has 3 points of identification established  before you start the examination and that the 3C's requirements have been met                                                                                                                                                             

 

Acceptable Patient Identifiers Include

      1. Patient's full name
      2. Patients Date of Birth
      3. Patient's sex
