All of our imaging rooms and modalities are contained within one area of the hospital.

You may hear the terms ‘main x-ray’ and ‘ED x-ray’ – historically our general x-ray rooms were equally split on virtually opposite sides of the department where we imaged specific patient types.

All 4 general x-ray rooms are now located alongside each other and imaging of any patient type can occur in practically any one of the rooms.

Room 1 – General X-ray

Siemens Ysio DR system.

Fitted with table and wall stand, has full spine and long leg imaging capabilities.

Room 2 – General X-ray

Philips room – requires use of CR cassettes and AGFA NX systems.

Fitted with table and wall stand.

OPG unit is also located within this room, also uses CR cassette and AGFA NX system.

Room 3 – General X-ray

Philips room – identical to Room 2 with one difference, a Carestream DRX-1 retrofit system allows use of DR detector for image acquisition. It has ability to revert to CR, making use of CR cassettes and AGFA NX systems.

Room 4 – General X-ray

Carestream Evolution DR system.

Wall stand only – able to be positioned vertical or horizontal, primarily used for trauma imaging. Specialised barouches allow for trauma imaging without need for patient transfer.

Resus rooms

Philips system with a Carestream DRX-1 retrofit system allowing use of DR detector. It also has the ability to revert to CR, making use of CR cassettes and AGFA NX systems. technique

These two rooms are unique in that they have a shared generator with two separate control panels and are connected via a control room – the rooms cannot be used simultaneously.  Specialised barouches for imaging which have a ‘bucky’ integrated into them to improve imaging

Portable units - all of our portable units require use of CR cassettes for imaging, and AGFA NX CR software.

They are all Shimadzu units with little variation between the units. One is parked permanently in ICU on Level 2; the remaining two units are parked within Medical Imaging.

Image intensifiers - Three of our IIs are Philips Endura systems with little variation between the units and one is a GE OEC9900.

One is located permanently in Gastro and Thoracic Procedure Suites; the remaining units are located in theatre suites.
