The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH) is a 303 bed, acute care teaching hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency and mental health services to a population of more than 250,000 people living primarily in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

The Information Desk can be found inside the main entrance of the ground floor of the 9-storey hospital building. This building is known as the Tower Block.

Building is underway to develop a brand-new, purpose-built clinical services building at TQEH as part of a $314 million redevelopment project. Some of the services that are currently in the plans for the new clinical services building include:

  • an emergency department
  • operating theatres and day surgery/procedural suites
  • an intensive care unit
  • A New Radiology Department
  • general rehabilitation facilities

Construction of the new clinical services building will be completed by July 2024.

After hours cardiology services have been reinstated at the hospital with a $4 million refurbishment of the cardiac catheterisation lab completed in July 2019. The upgrade ensures TQEH has the capacity to manage cardiac emergencies and support best quality patient care.

In December 2019 a new multi-deck car park opened, providing 500 parking spaces for patients, families and visitors across five levels, including more than 70 accessible spaces for people with disabilities.

The new car park paves the way for the clinical services building to be built on the site of the existing northern patient and visitor car park.
