27                    CONGENITAL HYPERTROPHIED PYLORIC STENOSIS

 

No clinical information is available for this specimen which consists of the stomach and portion of the duodenum of an infant.  A small piece of opal white glass has been wedged in the pyloric canal.  There is marked hypertrophy of the muscle coat of the pylorus, ending abruptly at the duodenum but gradually tapering off proximally into the pyloric antrum.
