878                  CONGENITAL STRICTURE OF THE OESOPHAGUS

No clinical information is available for this specimen, which shows a stricture in the oesophagus of a small child at a level 2 cms above the bifurcation of the trachea.  At the point the oesophagus has a very narrow lumen and a grape stalk can be seen impacted in it.  There is hypertrophy of the muscle coat above the stricture.
