11509              FIBROID TUMOUR

No clinical information is available except that this is a surgical specimen.

The specimen consists of the uterus which measures 14 cms in length.  The body has been opened in a cruciate fashion and shows slight thickening and fibrosis of the myometrium.  There is a very large cervical fibroid spherical tumour 10 cms in diameter which has greatly elongated and distorted the cervical canal.  The external os is stretched into a large ovoid orifice measuring 2 x 4 cms (a part has been removed in the specimen).  The reverse of the specimen shows the cut surface of the tumour.  It is a typical whorled fibromyoma.
