The specimen consists of the uterus together with the cervix and the upper portion of the vagina and the right tube and ovary.  The uterus has been opened from behind to disclose an irregular haemorrhagic polypoid hypertrophy of the endometrium at the fundus.  Dilated cystic spaces are prominent.  There are also several Nabothian cysts in the cervical canal and a mucosal polyp 1.5 cms in diameter protrudes from the external os.  Histology shows benign endometrial and mucosal polypi.
