19066              FIBROMYOMA OF THE UTERUS WITH RED DEGENERATION

The patient was a woman aged 43.  The uterus was removed surgically.

The specimen consists of the uterus which is greatly enlarged by a spheroidal fibroid tumour measuring 10 x 9 cms.  The myometrium around the tumour is thickened and fibrosed.  The cut surface of the tumour shows uniform red degeneration.
