16084 ENDOMETRIAL POLYPS
The patient was a woman aged 72 who died from congestive cardiac failure and bronchopneumonia. She had previously suffered a complete left hemiplegia.
The specimen is of the uterus, one tube and one ovary. The cervical canal is narrow and stenosed and the uterine cavity is dilated. At postmortem it contained some pus (pyometra). Two sessile endometrial polyps project in the uterine cavity near the fundus. The tube and ovary are atrophic.
