9290                CARCINOMA OF THE TESTIS

The patient was a man aged 50.  He noticed swelling of the right testis which slowly increased in size and was accompanied by constant dull ache.  The urinary 17-ketosteroids were normal.  The testis was excised.

There is enlargement of the body of the testis which measures 6 x 4 x 4 cms.  The cut surface shows pale yellow fleshy cellular tissue with some myxomatous change in places and a small central haemorrhage.  Histology showed masses of cells morphologically resembling interstitial cells.
