10063              BRONCHIAL ADENOMA

No clinical history is available.

The specimen consists of a resected pulmonary lobe.  In a large bronchus there is an adenomatous tumour measuring 2 x 1.5 cms with a brown uniform fleshy consistency.  Distal to the tumour there is segmental collapse, with cylindrical bronchiectasis surrounded by fibrosis and lipoid pneumonitis.  There is also cylindrical bronchiectasis in the adjacent unobstructed bronchus, the lumen of which can be readily traced to within 1 cm of the pleural surface.  The bulk of the lung tissue appears normal.
