22194              CONTRACEPTIVE DEVICE

The specimen is a longitudinal section of the uterus opened to disclose a sectioned plastic intrauterine contraceptive device lying within the uterine cavity.  This is a surgical specimen but no information is available on the reasons for the hysterectomy.  The uterus is a little fibrous but not otherwise abnormal in appearance.
