594                  HYDATID CYST OBSTRUCTING HEPATIC VEIN

No clinical information is available for this old specimen.  It shows the liver sectioned in the horizontal plane.  An elongated calcified hydatid cyst containing degenerated hydatid material is present on the posterior surface of the right lobe.  The cyst measures 10 cms in length and 3 cms in breadth and its medial end lies against and compresses the right branch of the hepatic vein.  The trunk of the vena cava is not compressed.
