16718              ANEURYSM OF SUPERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY

The patient was a hypertensive man aged 58 who died of cardiac failure and acute pulmonary oedema.  An incidental finding at postmortem was this thrombosed aneurysm of a branch of the superior mesenteric artery.  The aneurysm is thick walled and measures 1.5 x 1cm.  It is completely filled with laminated thrombus.
