7                      FIBROSARCOMA OF THE BREAST

The patient was a woman aged 50 who had had an injury to the breast 3 years previously. A small lump had been present for 2 years and had increased greatly in size during the last year.

The specimen consists of a slice through a very large tumour. The cut surface consists of pale fleshy lobules varying in size up to 7 cms in diameter, interlaced by strands of fibrous tissue. Histology shows a spindle-celled fibrosarcoma.
