24034              SPLEEN - CHRONIC MYELOID LEUKAEMIA

This 34 year old woman had had chronic myeloid leukaemia for 3½ years.

The specimen consists of a slice of spleen which originally weighed 2,860 gms.  The slice measures 24 x 12 cms.  Large areas of infarction and necrosis are visible on the cut surface together with map-like areas of haemorrhagic congestion.  Malpighian bodies are not visible.
