9216                PAPILLOMA OF THE BLADDER

 

The patient was a man aged 87 who was admitted with gangrene of the leg and died after a week in hospital.

 

The specimen was an incidental finding at postmortem, it showed a papilloma 2.5 cms in diameter arising from the trigone of the bladder near the entrance of the left ureter. The tumour shows the typical delicate fronds. The prostate is moderately hyperplastic and the bladder is dilated and trabeculated.
