14162              NEUROFIBROMA ATTACHED TO SMALL BOWEL

The specimen consists of 7 cms of small bowel.  A pedunculated spheroidal tumour measuring 8 x 5 x 6 cms is attached to the external surface by a relatively narrow pedicle.  The surface of the tumour is somewhat lobular and the cut surface shows many areas of haemorrhage and necrosis.  Histology shows an active pleomorphic fibroma or fibro-sarcoma with large areas of myxomatous degeneration.
