4236                TUBERCULOSIS OF THE KIDNEY

No clinical information is available for this old specimen.

The kidney measures 11 cms in length.  Towards the upper pole there is a caseous tuberculous focus measuring 1.5 x 2 cms.  There is central excavation and the caseous material has discharged into a minor calyx, producing a typical ulcero-cavernous lesion.  Smaller scattered tuberculous foci (not well seen) are present at the upper pole.
